Columbus High Golf Team Qualifies for State

COLUMBUS, Neb. – The Columbus High golf team qualified for state, with three CHS golfers advancing individually to the state tournament as well.

The Elks Country Club hosted districts Monday for various schools including CHS and Lakeview.

The Discoverers finished second as a team, with three individuals finishing in the top 10. Aspen Luebbe took 4th with an 80, Emily Goc tied for 6th with a 91 and Emily Rotherham tied for 9th with a 97.

Ashley Warner for CHS just missed the individual cut, shooting a 100, tying for 11th.

Lakeview’s Gracie Borer and Morgan Bignell also missed qualifying by a few strokes, each shooting 102 on the day. Olivia Engel for Lakeview shot a 110, as well.

The Viqueens finished in 5th place as a team.

Omaha Duchesne won the tournament with a total score of 317. Their top three performers all shot a 77, tying for 1st place. Bennington took 4th with a team score of 450.

The top three finishers, Duchesne, Columbus and Bennington, will compete at state at Quail Run Golf Course next week.
