LINCOLN – Another state championship trophy is coming to Nebraska City.

Lourdes Central Catholic defended its state title by taking down GACC 47-44 in the D1 State final at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Saturday.

The Knights took a 20-19 lead into the break and extended the lead to five heading into the the fourth quarter, but the Bluejays wouldn’t go away. GACC hit big shots in the closing minutes to keep the game close.

With eight seconds remaining, and down by three, the Bluejays had a chance to tie after a missed free-throw, however the Knights defense kept GACC from getting off a potential game-tying shot.
