Skeeter Appears at Education Center in Advance of Circus

NEBRASKA CITY — Skeeter, a show clown with the Culpepper & Merriweather Great Combined Circus, entertained Friday morning at the Nebraska Center for the Education of Children Who are Blind or Visually Impaired.

She said the circus is celebrating the 222nd birthday of the American circus. It is only 17 years younger than the USA. She asked students to demonstrate the sounds of drums and bells and said the slide whistle would have been among the musical instruments used at the first circus.

Skeeter the Clown also let children feel a peacock feather and attempt to balance it on their finger. She also appeared at Lourdes Central and local day care centers.

Circus show times at the Three Hills Events Center, 6251 G Rd., are 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29.
