Ronald J. Fettig, son of Peter and Lorraine (Hilfer) Fettig, was born July 13, 1959, in Paynesville, Minnesota, and passed away peacefully at his home December 28, 2013, after a two year battle to cancer. Ron attended Brooten High School and graduated in 1977. On November 27, 1982, he was united in marriage to Julie Halls. To this marriage, two children were born: Ryan and Jaclyn.
Ron was a member of St. Donatus Catholic Church in Brooten, Minnesota. In 1990, he got a job with Peterson and Son in Osmond, Nebraska, where Ron and Julie made their home and raised their children. In 2000, Ron and Julie became co-owners of the Blue Moon Resort west of Niobrara, Nebraska, and made their home there. After Ron was diagnosed with cancer, he had to give up his dream as a bar owner, and the Fettigs sold their shares to their business partners in December of 2012.
Ron was known for his big heart and was always willing to help others. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, time spent with family and friends, and especially his grandchildren. If you couldn't find Ron, he either was hanging out at his favorite spot down at the cabin, or trolling around out on his boat drinking his delicious Old Mil Light, catching up with friends. Ron always had a contagious smile that will never be forgotten.
Ron is survived by his wife of 31 years, Julie Fettig of Niobrara, Nebraska; son, Ryan (Teri) Fettig of Osmond, Nebraska; daughter Jaclyn (Kellen) Wieseler of Crofton, Nebraska; grandchildren, Hunter, Kenzie, and Jadrian; five siblings, Lyle, Curt, Dave, Les, and Lori; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
