Mildred died, Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Good Samaritan Society in Bloomfield, Nebraska.
Mildred L. (Volz) Clark, daughter of August and Elizabeth (Ellerton) Volz, was born April 13, 1922, at Highmore, South Dakota. Mildred grew up on the plains of South Dakota during the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl days, caring for her ailing parents. After her parents died, Mildred moved to Yankton, South Dakota, and married Marvin Clark on May 3, 1947, at Gayville, South Dakota. Mildred and Marvin were blessed with two children while living in Gayville: Connie and Larry. The family farmed near Gayville until moving to Bloomfield, Nebraska, in 1956 to start a farming and ranching operation there. Mildred worked many years in the Knox County Courthouse to help with expenses involved with the farming operation until Marvin became ill in 1984. After Marvin died in 1985, Mildred continued to live on the farm until she moved into Bloomfield on May 1, 1994, and later to Yankton on Labor Day of 2007.
Mildred enjoyed cake decorating, making special cakes for her friends, and especially for her children and grandkids. Mildred also enjoyed growing flowers, especially African violets. You could always find various plants placed everywhere in and around the house. Her special time later in life was going out to eat with her family and friends, and then driving around looking at all the flowers.
Left on this earth to be remembered and missed are her son, Larry (wife Joan) Clark; son-in-law, Richard Carlson and wife Judi; grandchildren, Carl and Roxie Clark, Laura and Joe Sloan, Jasen and Mary Clark, Jerome and Chantel Carlson, Teresa and Aaron Viox, Stacey and Terry Nickels, Brittany and Aaron Weston, Delwin and Wendy Carlson; as well as many great and great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, August and Elizabeth (Ellerton) Volz; brother, Maynard; husband, Marvin Clark; granddaughter, Jennifer Carlson; and daughter, Connie.
