Funeral services for Calvin R. Nyman, 56, of Meadow Grove, will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 1, 2014, at the Meadow Grove Methodist Church in Meadow Grove. Reverend Dr. Ralph M. Metschke will officiate. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Norfolk. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, at the Methodist Church in Meadow Grove followed by a prayer service. Home for Funerals, of Norfolk, is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Nyman died at his home Tuesday, July 22, 2014.
Calvin was born on November 18, 1957, in Braham, MN, the son of Warnie, Sr, and Jean (Tipp) Nyman. Following his education, Calvin farmed for his uncle. He also worked as a mechanic. In January of 1992, he moved to Norfolk. Calvin married Jeanette Penhiter on July 3, 1994, at the First United Methodist Church in Norfolk. The couple moved back to Minnesota for a short time before moving to Meadow Grove where he worked as a handyman. He enjoyed being outdoors hunting and fishing. He also liked doing woodworking and building country furniture.
Calvin is survived by his wife, Jeannette, seven children and their spouses-Gary and Misty Nyman, Junction City, KY, Kevin Nyman, Mora, MN, Sondra and Matt Barthman, St. Croix, MN, Anthony Nyman, Moreland, KY, Katy Nyman, Meadow Grove, Mikel Nyman, Meadow Grove and Crystal Nyman, Meadow Grove; three grandchildren, Olivia, Tucker and Jackson; his parents; his brothers and sisters and their spouses-Warnie, Jr, and Cherri Nyman, St. Croix Falls, Kenneth and Vicky Nyman, East Bethel, MN, Barbara and Wayne Carter, Hinckley, NM, Arlene and Bill Koebernick, Blackduck, MN, Suzy and Dick Wentworth, Mora, MN and Pearl and Jack Mitchell, Blackduck, MN.
He is preceded in death by his son Calvin, Jr.
Calvin's special request was to have those attending his funeral to wear bright clothing to celebrate his life.
