Berthol "Bert" Foreman
Funeral services for Bert J. Foreman, age 90 of Columbus, Nebraska, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 7, 2014, at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Creighton, Nebraska. Reverend Beverly Lanzendorf will officiate, with burial in the Greenwood Cemetery at Creighton.
Military Honors will be conducted by VFW Post 1151 and American Legion Post 74, both of Creighton, and the United States Marine Corp Honor Guard.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Creighton.
Bert died Saturday, August 2, 2014, at Mory's Haven in Columbus.
Berthol J. "Bert" Foreman was born on October 12, 1923 to Floyd and Reah (Bowker) Foreman in Venus, Nebraska. Bert graduated from Creighton High in 1940 and joined the Marine Corp during World War II. After the war, he went to work for Mead Lumber Company in Columbus, Nebraska. Bert married Dorothea Nauenburg in 1947. In April of 1952, Bert started his own business, Foreman Cash Lumber Company, in Columbus. Also in the Columbus area, he had ventures in farming and raising cattle. In retirement, Bert and his wife Maxine enjoyed traveling in their RV and fishing.
Bert is survived by his three children, Bradford (Janet) Foreman of Orange Park, Florida, Debbie Bailey of LaQuinta, California, and Bruce (Mary) Foreman of Columbus, Nebraska; six grandchildren, Stephanie (Bryan) Marlar of Orange Park, Florida, Brock (Traci) Foreman of Cumming, Georgia, Sasha Bailey of Long Beach, California, Craig (Michelle) Foreman of Columbus, Nebraska, Crystal (Chad) Hamling of Grimes, Iowa, and Ben (Melissa) Foreman of Columbus; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father; mother; two brothers, Floyd and Ellis; and his two sisters, Lola Green and Marie Dittoe.
