Joyce A. Jones
Memorial services for Joyce A. Jones, 89, Norfolk, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Norfolk with the Rev. Kathryn Keener-Han officiating. Inurnment will be at the Bethany Presbyterian Cemetery in rural Carroll.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk.
She died on Friday, June 6, 2014, at St. Joseph's Nursing Home in Norfolk.
Memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church, Marlin & Rose Jones Missions.
She was born April 8, 1925, at Coleridge to Bernhardt W. (Ben) and Laura A. (Dirks) Rath. She attended Cedar country School District 20 and graduated from the eighth grade from Clairmont School in 1933.
She was married to Clifford Jones on Feb. 12, 1952, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Coleridge. After marriage they farmed near Carroll and Plainview until 1963. They moved to Randolph for a short time. In 1965 the family moved to Norfolk.
Joyce did custodial work and house cleaning. She enjoyed camping, crocheting, gardening and babysitting. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Norfolk, Women's Circle and was a Girl Scout leader,
Survivors are children Martin Jones of Sioux City, Iowa, Charles and wife Darla Jones of Lewistown, Mont., Marlin and wife Rose Jones of the Philippines, Laura Gildea of Lincoln, Thomas and wife Sonya Jones of Norfolk; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; brother Gerald Rath of Loveland, Colo.; sisters Francis and husband Wayne Conrad of Waterloo, Iowa, Janice Morris of Winside; and sister-in-law Judy Rath of Omaha.
She was preceeded in death by parents Ben and Laura, husband Clifford, brother Eugene, grandson Christopher Walter, great-granddaughters Talia Cunningham and Addyson Jones.
