Wayne M. Tegeler
Funeral services for Wayne Tegeler, age 91, of Meadow Grove, Nebraska, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 30, 2013, at St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek, Nebraska. Pastor David Weaver will officiate, with burial in the Lutheran Cemetery at Meadow Grove.
Visitation will be Sunday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Brockhaus-Harlan Funeral Home in Tilden, Nebraska.
Wayne died Thursday, December 26, 2013, at Community Pride Care Center in Battle Creek, Nebraska.
Wayne Milton Tegeler, son of Walter and Minnie (Praeuner) Tegeler, was born September 26, 1922, on his parent's farm south of Battle Creek, Nebraska. Wayne was baptized in the Lutheran Faith on October 22, 1922 by the Reverend Jacob Hoffman at St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek, and was later confirmed there on May 17, 1936 by the Reverend A.H. Schleef. Wayne began his education at St. John Lutheran School in Battle Creek, and then graduated from Battle Creek High School with the Class of 1940.
On August 24, 1947, Wayne was married to Marjory Rodekohr at St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek. In March of 1948, the couple moved to a farm near Meadow Grove, where they farmed the rest of their lives. While living near Meadow Grove, Wayne became a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Meadow Grove in 1951, and held many church offices. He was also a member of the Livestock Feeders, the Meadow Grove-Tilden Lions Club, and the Meadow Grove School Board.
Wayne is survived by his sons, Larry and wife Linda (Werner) Tegeler of Meadow Grove, Nebraska, and John and wife Jane (Hodgson) Tegeler of Meadow Grove; daughters, Lynn Zurcher of Meadow Grove, and Jane (husband Pat) Sullivan of Lakin, Kansas; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one brother and his wife, Dean and wife Marie Tegeler of Boston, Massachusetts.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjory, on April 28, 2012; grandson, Brian Tegeler; son-in-law, Ronn Zurcher; parents; brother, Delbert and wife Audris Tegeler; and sister and husband, Verena and Roy Maurer.
