Adeline I. Zessin
Funeral services for Adeline I. Zessin, 101, of Madison will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at St. John Luthern-Green Garden Church, Madison. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at Resseguie Funeral Home, Madison.
Adeline died Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Country Side Home, Madison.
Adeline Irene Zessin was born March 11, 1913 at Madison, NE to Andrew and Rose (Emrich) Kalmer. She was baptized on March 30, 1913 and confirmed on May 3, 1925 at Trinity Lutheran Church, at Madison, NE. She graduated from Madison High School in 1929. She attended Wayne State College and Norfolk Business School of Norfolk.
She became cashier at Brown McDonald Department Store in Madison in 1931 and continued working there till her marriage to Arthur Zessin on March 11, 1935 at Trinity Lutheran Church. They farmed and raised; purebred cattle southwest of Madison till retiring to Madison in 1983.
She was a member of St. John Ladies Aid since 1948 and served as an officer many times during the span of years. She had been a volunteer at Norfolk Faith Regional Health Services end Madison's Country Side Home. She belonged to several social and card clubs.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Diane and Harvey Knull of Corpus Christi, Texas, son Dean Zessin of Denver, CO, daughter-in-law and spouse Louise and Jim Kruger of Hadar, NE, four grandchildren and spouses, Vicki and Alan Blank and Rodney and Jennifer Zessin of Madison.
Tania and Chris West of Freeland, MI, and Tami and Stephan Brandt of Greenfield, WI, five great grandsons, Blake and Andrew Zessin, Kenneth Blank, Ethan Brandt, Aidan West, four Great granddaughters, Katherine and Kimberly Blank, Cassidy Brandt and Alexis West.
She was preceded in death by her husband in December, 1998 and by a
son, Darrel in May 1970 and by a granddaughter and two sisters, Elsie Bierman and Nettie Freudenberg.
