Jean M. Stine

Funeral services for Jean M. Stine, age 62 of Wausa, Nebraska, will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Creighton, Nebraska, with John Petersen officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Creighton.

Jean died Saturday, June 7, 2014, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Jean Marie (Petersen) Stine, daughter of Raymond and June (Hilfiker) Petersen, was born October 22, 1951, at Bloomfield, Nebraska. Jean attended Bloomfield Elementary School and later Bloomfield High School, where she graduated with the Class of 1969. On November 30, 1974, Jean was married to John T. Stine at Bloomfield. The couple was blessed with one daughter: Melissa J. "Missy" Stine.

Jean lived in many different places during her lifetime, but Casper, Wyoming still was a special place to Jean. Casper was not only a memorable place to live, but it was also where Jean was living when Missy was born. Later, the Stine family moved to Duluth, Minnesota, due to John's job. They then settled in the Wausa, Nebraska area for nearly three decades, living on a farm for the past 28 years with their favorite friends, their animals.

Jean was a member of the United Methodist Church. During her time living in the Wausa area, she was very involved with her work and the people of NorthStar for 24 years. Jean had a lot of fun with the garden, cooking, sewing, and reading. Jean was the type of person that never left anybody behind; she cared for so many people and never let anybody feel unloved.

Jean is survived by her husband, John T. Stine; daughter, Melissa "Missy" Stine; mother, June P. Petersen; sister, Lila M. Petersen; and step-daughters, Stacie and Cyndi.

She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Petersen; sisters; and brothers.
