Memorial services for Kenneth Fields, age 64 of Excelsior, Minnesota, will be Friday, June 20th, 2014, in Edina, Minnesota.
Private family graveside services will be held at a later date at the Tilden City Cemetery in Tilden, Nebraska, under the direction of Brockhaus-Harlan Funeral Home of Tilden.
Ken died June 6, 2014, at a hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota, following six months of fighting severe health issues.
Kenneth L. Fields was born November 4, 1949 in Tilden, Nebraska to Ralph and Loretta Fields. Ken lived with his parents on the family farm south of Tilden and attended Bunker Hill country school. His graduating class of 1967 was the last class from Tilden High School of which he was very proud. After attending Northeast Nebraska College in Norfolk, Ken married Karma Korshoj on August 21, 1971, in Ainsworth, Nebraska. The couple moved to Greeley, Colorado, where Ken began his sales career with an office equipment store until 1975, when they returned home to Tilden. Ken was co-owner/operator of Bob's Camper Center in Norfolk. On January 1st, 1980, he began work with Wheeler Lumber in Norfolk and a year later was transferred to Wheeler's St. Louis Park, Minnesota office to originate their landscape sales division. In December of 1992, Ken was named Manager of Landscape Operations and moved his office to Shakopee, Minnesota, where he was employed at the time of his death.
Ken is survived by his wife, Karma; two sons, Christopher J. Fields of Los Angeles, California, and Technical Sergeant (E-6) Michael R. Fields, currently stationed at Incirlik Air base, Turkey; mother, Loretta Fields of Newman Grove, Nebraska; sister, Kathy (John) Gladem of Albion, Nebraska; and numerous friends and family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph R. Fields, in 2007.
