Erwin W. Bilau
Services for Erwin W. Bilau, 85, of McLean will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Randolph, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, McLean, and military rites by American Legion Post 326, Osmond. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at Stonacek Memorial Chapel, Osmond.
He died Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at home surrounded by family.
He was born May 6, 1929, at Creston to Gustav and Lena (Correll) Bilau. He was baptized June 30, 1929, at Creston and confirmed July 15, 1945, at Hope Lutheran Church, rural McLean. He attended rural McLean public schools.
He married Irene Ryan on July 8, 1951, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church at Meadow Grove. He served in the U.S. Army from Sept. 26, 1951, through Sept. 26, 1953.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, American Legion, Osmond, and church council. He enjoyed his family and friends, farming, trucking, woodworking and traveling. He loved his winters in Texas and the music jams.
Survivors are his wife, Irene Bilau of McLean; children Tim and wife Lanell Bilau of Pierce and Larry and wife Connie Bilau of Marine, Ill.; five grandchildren and two great- grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Eichberger of Plainview and Dorothy Ingram of Council Bluffs, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gustav and Lena Bilau; his brother, Art Bilau; one nephew, Gary Eichberger; one brother-in-law, Doug Eichberger; and one niece, JoAnn Glandt; and one sister-in-law, Odella Bilau.
Organist will be Nikki Tunink with "How Great Thou Art," "Here I am Lord," and "Rock of Ages."
Casket bearers will be nephews Allen Bilau, Leon Bilau, Paul Bilau, Randy Eichberger, Mark Eichberger and Randy Ryan. Honorary casket bearers will be grandchildren Jada Sudbeck, Tina Bilau, Nate Bilau, Hannah Bilau and Rachel Bilau.
