Hit and Run Results in Arrest
NORFOLK - A Norfolk man was injured then arrested following a hit-and-run accident early Friday.
Norfolk Police Capt. Michael Bauer says 19-year old Christian Diaz was placed under arrest Friday morning. Bauer says officers were dispatched to the intersection of 2nd and Pasewalk at about 2:45 a.m. for a hit-and-run accident. Police were able to locate the vehicle involved with the help of OnStar.
Officers came upon a heavily damaged vehicle being driven by Diaz and stopped him. Officers say Diaz's hand was bleeding, and there was an unopened can of beer in the car. Officers performed a field sobriety test on Diaz and later placed him under arrest.
The accident investigation concluded that Diaz was southbound on S. 2nd St. and traveling too fast to stop at the intersection of Pasewalk Avenue. His vehicle skidded and spun, hitting a parked car, which then rammed into another vehicle, doing about $8000 worth of damage and totaling Diaz's vehicle. He faces seven charges, including leaving the scene of an injury accident, DUI and minor in possession of alcohol.
