Loretta Rice Rodgers
Memorial visitation for Loretta Rice Rodgers, age 74 of Wausa, Nebraska, will be Monday, February 24, 2014, from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m., at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Nebraska.
Loretta died Sunday, February 16, 2014, at her son Raymond's home in LeMars, Iowa.
Loretta Rice Rodgers, daughter of James and Lena (Lankford) Rice, was born December 5, 1939, in Sherman, Texas. At the age of 16, Loretta married Raymond J. Rodgers, II, in Menominee, Nebraska, on January 2, 1956. The young couple made their home in Tucson, Arizona, and to this marriage, four children were born: Raymond J., III, Carol, Tammy, and Donald.
In 1974, Loretta and Raymond moved to a farm in Wausa, Nebraska, where they were engaged in farming for 40 years until their retirement. Their farming operation included crops, hogs, and cattle, and Mom loved her chickens and ducks. She enjoyed her garden and flower beds, and loved spending time there, singing and tending. Loretta loved taking care of her husband and her children. She enjoyed crochet, and made baby blankets for all of her grandkids and great-grandkids. Loretta also enjoyed sewing, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Loretta passed away on February 16, 2014, at her son, Raymond J. Rodgers, III's home in LeMars, Iowa.
Loretta is survived by her son, Raymond J. (wife Sheila) Rodgers, III, and their children, Raymond J. (wife Katie) Rodgers, IV, Nicole (husband Jacob) Trometer, and Shelby; son, Donald A. Rodgers, and his children, Nicolas, Brandon, Traci, and Seth; daughter, Carol (husband Dewey) Palu, and children, Matthew (wife Rachel) Beckman, Gregory Beckman, and Curtis Beckman; daughter, Tammy Johnson, and her children, Jonathan (wife Reann) Risor, Marci (husband Austin) Campana, and Christina and Jordan and Ryan Johnson; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Ivy, Faith, Hannah, Josephine, Emma, Noah, Christina, and Emily; sisters, Marilyn (husband Fred) Zimmerman, and Jerry (husband Thomas) Ernest, all of Tucson, Arizona; and a brother, James of Texas; as well as many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Raymond J. Rodgers, II; a sister, Florence; her parents, James and Lena Rice; grandson, Patrick; sisters, Mary and Peggy; brother, Billy; and a son-in-law, Steve.
