Leslie V. Doerr
Funeral services for Leslie V. Doerr, 80, of Norfolk, will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 24, 2014, at Grace Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitations will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Home for Funerals.
Mr. Doerr died Monday, January 20, 2014, at Heritage of Bel Air.
Les was born on March 18, 1933, in Creighton, NE, the son of Reinhard and Bertha (Von Rentzell) Doerr. He was raised on the family farm. Following a farm accident, Les went to mechanic's school. Les was baptized and confirmed at Golgotha Lutheran Church, Wausa, NE. Later, he became a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Norfolk.
On September 8, 1957, Les married Janice Ehrenberg. The couple made their home in Norfolk.
Les was employed at Petring Ford as a mechanic and service manager. He later worked for Central Transport Company. He always enjoyed helping at the farm where he grew up. Les retired in April of 1995.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his children. He had a great love for his family.
Les loved to work on cars and restored a 1957 Ford Retractable Hardtop. He was a member of the Norfolk Antique Car Club.
Les is survived by his wife of 56 years, their children, daughter Debra Doerr and her husband, Doug Charko, of Lincoln and son, Kelvin Doerr, of Omaha; two grandchildren, Kelsey Doerr and Kyle Doerr; two brothers, Melvin (Gladys) Doerr, of Omaha, Ray (Joyce) Doerr, of Plainview; and two Mardella Smith, of Wausa, NE, and Stella (Pastor Luther) Gutz, Coeur d'Alene, ID.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Milford Doerr and one sister, Ethel Guernsey.
