Funeral service for Judy Ernst, 67, of Norfolk, will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 1, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ. Pastor Steven Uzzell will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Ernst died at St. Joseph's Rehabilitation and Care Center in Norfolk on Monday, July 28, 2014.
Judy was born on March 20, 1947, at Genoa, NE, the daughter of William and Frieda (Rubin) Nansel. Following high school, Judy graduated from the Minnesota School of Medical Technician. She resided in Greeley, CO and David City, NE.
On November 11, 29, 1975, Judy married Timothy Ernst at St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Columbus.
In 1976, she and her husband moved to Norfolk, where she began her 38 year career with the Norfolk Medical Group. She retired in 2014.
Judy enjoyed gardening, canning and working with her flowers. She loved to cook, especially for the large family gatherings. She also liked to fish and was great Big Red Fan. However, her passion was her family.
Judy is survived by her husband of 38 years; their son and his wife, Aaron and Sandy Ernst, of Lenexa, KS; her two grandchildren Hunter and Hudson; one sister, Elizabeth and Bob Blaser, of Columbus.
The family requests that memorials may be directed to the First United Congregational Church of Christ in Norfolk, Glenn Ernst Memorial at St. Luke's United Church of Christ, in Columbus, or the Gruetli Cemetery Fund.
