Mrs. Hamling died Saturday, January 4, 2014, at Heritage of Bel Air.

Jo was born on December 8, 1914, at Humphrey, NE, the daughter of Jacob and Otillia (Moelle) Keller. She attended Humphrey St. Francis School.

On April 30, 1935, Jo married George H. Hamling at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The couple made their home in Norfolk.

In her short life, she was employed by Mary's Café, Three Sisters and Montgomery Wards. She took classes to become a nurse's aide. She was then employed at the Norfolk Regional Center and later at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. Jo is remembered fondly by many new mothers for her special care in the maternity ward.

She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, playing cards and she created a prodigious number of crocheted hangers which she gifted to family and friends alike. She was also an avid Husker fan.

Jo was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish and was very active in the Catholic Daughters of America, the Legion of Mary, and the Altar Society. She served as the Chairperson of the funeral committee for eleven years. She was also a longtime member of the VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Jo is survived by her children: Joan Jones, of Norfolk, David and Danna Hamling, of Larkspur, Colorado, Jim and Deanna, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Ruth and Bob Hatterman, of Omaha; twelve grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, three brothers and eight sisters.
