State Patrol Urging Motorcycle Safety with Warmer Temperatures

NORFOLK - With the warmer temperatures, many in northeast Nebraska will soon choose to hit the roads on two wheels instead of four.

The Nebraska State Patrol is working to remind area motorists to share the road. Sergeant Scott Lackas with the Nebraska State Patrol Troop B in Norfolk said that the patrol is working to spread the word throughout the month of May, which has been designated as Motorcycle Safety Awareness month.

Sgt. Lackas: "The motoring public in the larger vehicles need to look twice at intersections so they don't pull out in front of a motorcycle and cause crashes and injuries that way."

Motorcycle riders are also remained to obey the same rules of the road, and that in the State of Nebraska both riders and passengers are required by law to wear a DOT compliant helmet.
