Loren H. Prauner

Funeral services for Loren H. Prauner, 85, of Battle Creek will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at St. John Lutheran Church. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Battle Creek. Visitation will be Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the St. John Lutheran Church. Steffen Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Prauner died Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Community Pride Care Center.
Loren was born June 20, 1928 at home south of Battle Creek the son of Walter and Alma (Meier) Prauner, living his entire life in the Battle Creek area. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Heights Lutheran Church south of Battle Creek. He graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1944.
Loren married Jeanne Raymond on December 28, 1949 at the United Methodist Church in Battle Creek. The couple farmed within the Fairview area and close to the Prauner homestead until their retirement in 1989 following a devastating car crash that left him unable to continue his lifelong vocation of farming.
Loren was a long-time member of the Fairview School board, director at the Battle Creek Co-op for over 30 years, a member of the Rural Fireboard, Height's Elder, St. John's Elder and building committee member, Nebraska Feeder's association, Evergreen Golf Course and the Nebraska Head Injury Association
Loren is survived by his wife Jeanne Prauner of Battle Creek, their children, Bradley (Patricia) Prauner of Battle Creek, Timothy (Pam) Prauner of Springfield, NE, and Jan (Brian) Hinze of Battle Creek, his sister Ruth Reeg of Lincoln, 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Lori Prauner; and a brother in-law, George Reeg.
