James H. Schaecher
Funeral services for James H. Schaecher, 85, of Norfolk will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 18, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Norfolk. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, with military rites by American Legion Post 16, VFW Post 1644 and the Nebraska National Guard Honor Guard. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Schaecher died Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Faith Regional Health Services.
James was born March 24, 1928 at Lindsay the son of Frank and Clara (Pfeifer) Schaecher. He attended school in Lindsay and then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from January 20, 1953 until January 19, 1955.
James married Wilma Sehi on September 16, 1957 at St. John's Catholic Church, Clearwater. The couple moved to Columbus where he worked for a filling station and Behlen Manufacturing before owning and operating the Floyd's Standard Station. In 1967 they moved to Norfolk where he worked for Vulcraft until retiring in 1991 as their Truck Shop Foreman.
James is survived by his wife Wilma Schaecher of Norfolk, their children, Keith Schaecher of Norfolk, Mary (Daniel) Bowers of Verona, MO, Mark (Tera) Schaecher of Omaha, and Pat (Michele) Schaecher of Norfolk, a son in-law Bob Svoboda of Norfolk, three brothers, Jerry (Judy) Schaecher of Grand Island, Jack (Marie) Schaecher of Denver, CO, Vernon (Joan) Schaecher of Lindsay, one sister Mary Vanore (Dwayne) Johnson of Columbus, seven grandchildren, four step grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Nancy Svoboda, one brother Don, and one sister Germaine.
