Delbert R. Hood
Funeral services for Delbert R. Hood, age 80 of Butte, Nebraska, will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2014, at the Butte Community Center in Butte. Reverend Sunny Ridings will officiate, with burial in the Butte City Cemetery.
Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 51 of Butte.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
Brockhaus Funeral Home of Spencer, Nebraska, is in charge of arrangements.
Delbert died Thursday, July 24, 2014, at the Parkside Manor in Stuart, Nebraska.
Delbert R. Hood, son of James and Onie (Kreger) Hood, was born May 30, 1934, in rural Holt County, Nebraska. Delbert attended and graduated from Butte High School in Butte, Nebraska. On July 28, 1955, he was married to Betty Fernau in Butte. To this union, five children were born to them: Shelley, Kevin, David, Gary, and Nancy.
Following high school, Delbert spent two years in the United States Army. After serving his country, he lived and worked as a mechanic in the Butte area. Delbert was known to help many friends and neighbors work on their farm equipment. In later years, he worked for Don and Ardeth Bachmann.
Delbert served in the Army from 1955 until 1957, and was a member of the American Legion.
Delbert is survived by his children, Shelley (Kenny) Sharp of Winner, South Dakota, Kevin (Kathy) Hood of Thedford, Nebraska, David Hood of Plainview, Nebraska, and Nancy (Dan) Stowell of O'Neill, Nebraska; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; son, Gary; and nine brothers and sisters.
