Laura E Bauermeister
Funeral services for Laura E. Bauermeister, 94, of Norfolk, will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 10, 2014, at Peace United Church of Christ. The church location is 4 miles east of Norfolk on Hwy 35. Reverend Dr. Richard E. Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Springbranch Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Bauermeister died Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at Heritage of Bel Air.
Laura was born on December 27, 1919, on the family farm east of Madison, the daughter of William P. and Emma E. (Rakowsky) Klawonn. She was baptized on February 8, 1920, at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. On April 9, 1933, Laura was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison. She attended rural school and Trinity Lutheran School in Madison.
On November 12, 1941, Laura married Harold Herman Bauermeister in Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison. The couple lived with Harold's folks for a short time before they moved to their farm east of Norfolk. Three sons were born to this union, Richard Leroy, Robert Harold and Jerald Gilbert.
Laura had a strong preference to being outdoors. She really enjoyed helping Harold with the farming, doing her gardening, tending to her chickens and doing other outside chores. She also enjoyed baking, cooking and canning. Laura loved fishing and was proud of her permanent Nebraska fishing license. However, her passion was for her family and family gatherings. She took great pride in her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Laura is survived by her daughters-in-law, Maxine Bauermeister and Renee Bauermeister; her 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Gilbert Bauermeister.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sons; one brother, Leroy Klawonn; two sisters, Adeline Pohlman and Darleen Froehlich; two brothers-in-law, a sister-in-law; and a still born sister.
