Junior Job Shadow Day Planned For Late February, Businesses To Attend Planning Meetings

WAYNE – Area businesses are invited to attend a job shadow event Monday night and Tuesday afternoon.

In July of 2017, Wayne Community Schools was awarded an action grant from the Nebraska Department of Education to create a strategic planning process called reVISION. The grant was in the amount of $36,000.

WCS is very grateful for the support businesses provided during the grant process.

Now, the next step in the reVISION process is to coordinate a job shadow day with students who are juniors and local businesses. The job shadowing experience is scheduled for Wednesday, February 21, 2018 and if businesses are interested in being part of the Junior Job Shadow Day, they are asked to attend one of the two meetings this week.

Planning meetings are scheduled for Monday, November 6 at 5:30 p.m. or Tuesday, November 7 at Noon in the Wayne Jr/Sr High School Lecture Hall. Each meeting will last no longer than 45 minutes and will provide an opportunity to discuss expectations for the job shadow day.

One of the goals for Wayne Community Schools is to ensure their students leave high school with the knowledge and skills required for employment or the continuation into a postsecondary education program.

Those interested were supposed to RSVP to Deb Daum, Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent at 402-375-3150 or dedaum1@waynebluedevils.org by last Thursday, November 2.
