MADISON – Wayne High School was represented in Madison this past weekend during the opening round of regional Mock Trial competition.
From the Madison County Courthouse, two of the three WHS teams advanced to the quarterfinals which are scheduled to be held on Monday, November 13.
The Wayne Blue Team (Ky Kenny, Grace Heithold, Savannah Leseberg, Jack Osnes, Austin Fernau, Molly Hoskins, Miranda Fehringer and Breanna Kallhoff) was the defense Friday morning and defeated Lutheran High Northeast #3. They again competed at 11 a.m. as the plaintiff and won against South Sioux City #4 to advance with a 2-0 record on the day.
The Wayne Red Team (Colton Spahr, Christopher Woerdemann, Treyton Blecke, Liam Spieker, Walker Hochstein, Makayla Heithold, Maura Loberg and Connor Colvard) was also the defense at 9 a.m. and defeated LHNE #4 before winning against SSC #3 as the plaintiff. The Red Team advanced with a 2-0 record.
The Wayne Purple Team (Zach Schenk, Isaac Davis, Ruben Vega, Avianna Doring, Christopher Archer, Allyson Avery, Nathan Kufner-Rodriguez and Grace LIndsay) was the defense at 9 a.m. and won against Norfolk Catholic #1, but lost to SSC #2 at 11 a.m. as the plaintiff. They competed once again for a shot at the quarterfinal round but lost as the defense to SSC #3. Team Purple’s season concluded with a 1-2 record.
The Wayne Blue and Red Mock Trial teams will compete in the quarterfinal round back at the Madison County Courthouse on Monday.
