BEATRICE – The Judicial Nominating Commission for the 1st Judicial District in southeast Nebraska will hold an April 4th public hearing to review candidates for a judge vacancy.
District Judge Daniel Bryan Jr. announced his retirement, effective at the end of last year, though he continues to hear cases while the vacancy appointment is under consideration. Persons applying for the judgeship have a deadline of 5 p.m., March 14th, to submit applications. The primary location of the vacancy is Auburn, in Nemaha County, or another site to be determined by the appointed judge.
Nebraska Supreme Court Chief Justice Michael Heavican says the public hearing for information and qualifications on candidates for the judge position, will be held in the Gage County District Court room, April 4th, at 2 p.m. The public is invited to attend the hearing and present information regarding candidates for the judicial post.
