Action On Purchase Of Bricks, Interlocal Agreement To Be Amended During City Council

WAYNE – As the first of August lands on the first Tuesday of the month, City Council plans on meeting at 5 p.m. from the City Hall.

The Wayne City Council will open with an action item about offering to purchase 2,500 or more pavers/bricks for .50 cents each for the Brewery Beer Garden located at 117 W 2nd Street. In July of 2013, Council did approve an offer to purchase bricks at the cost of .75 cents and again in October of 2015. The original selling price was $1.00/per brick, established in June of 2013.

Council also, in 2015 increased the amount of bricks purchased from 1,000 to 2,500 bricks.

A public hearing is set to be held pertaining to considering the Planning Commission’s recommendation in amending zoning text. The two applicants are seeking the request to allow for larger unattached accessory structures for multi-family dwellings in an R-3 District as is allowed in an R-4 District.

Councilmembers will also hear about a resolution in amending the Interlocal Agreement with Wayne County to jointly provide dispatch services for public safety in the county. Dispatches are for the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, Providence Medical Center, Wayne State College campus security, the Haven House as well as Carroll and Winside Fire Departments.

The City currently bills Carroll and Winside each $1,500 annually and the Sheriff’s Department $72,000 annually for dispatch services. WSC is covered in the interlocal agreement and the remaining agencies are not billed. The agreement to be discussed will establish an annual adjustment in the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department fees.

Joel Hanson will be appointed as the Flood Plain Administrator and newly appointed City Administrator, Wes Blecke will also serve as the Wayne Representative to the Nebraska Community Energy Alliance.
