FREMONT – The Dodge County Board of Supervisors held their regular meeting Wednesday morning.
One of the big items on the agenda was the announcement of of Gary Osborn’s resignation on the County Board as the District 7 Supervisor. His resignation is effective September 1st. District 5 Supervisor, Bob Missel, says the resignation is due to a change in residence.
“Supervisor Osborn took a change of residence that took him out of his district,” said Missel. “Because of that he has to step down from his position. So it leaves a vacancy on the board.”
Missel adds the next step is to appoint someone to finish Osborn’s unfinished term.
“A committee is formed of the county attorney, the county clerk, and the county treasurer,” said Missel. “They place an advertisement for the position to fill Supervisor Osborn’s unexpired term.”
Osborn has an estimated 1 1/4 years term left. Any registered voter of District 7 is eligible for the position. District 7 consists of precincts 1B, 2A, 2B, and 3E, which is generally from Lincoln Street west to Somers Street, 16th Street south to 10th Street, the eastern downtown area south of 10th Street to the south city limits, and west of Platte Avenue to D Street in the middle of the city of Fremont.
Resumes and cover letters must be received no later than 4:30 p.m. on August 18th, to the committee. They can be dropped off at 435 N. Park, Room 102 in Fremont, Nebraska.
