WAYNE – For those who live around the Wayne area and would like to attend a Veterans Day Assembly, there are several local high schools and community locations in Wayne.
All high school assemblies will begin at 9 a.m.
From the Wayne High School gymnasium, all community members are welcome to attend as their guest speakers will be Pete and Shelli Keiser. Another community-wide Veterans Day Program will take place from the Wayne Senior Center starting at 11:15 a.m. and in between the Wayne High School and Senior Center assembly, Friday morning Chamber Coffee will be held from the Wayne Vets Club at 10 a.m.
Wakefield Community Schools will honor all who served during Veterans Day with remarks from Superintendent Mr. Mark Bejot, Pastor Charity Potter and High School Principal Mr. Jason Heitz. The Wakefield High School choir will sing “Soldiers” while the fifth-grade students will perform “In Flanders Fields”. There will also be a poetry and slide show presented by four Wakefield students. A reception will follow for Veterans, families and community members in the Multipurpose Room.
From Winside, Beverly Neel will address those who attend with Ron Behnke and riders of the Post 16 American Legion in Norfolk be the honored guests. 2017 Girls and Boys State recipients will also talk with cookies being served by the Winside Elementary Student Council following the program.
