SCHUYLER – A man who left the scene of an accident after running over a 10-year-old, will be arraigned in District Court on Wednesday.
Oscar Rodriguez, 27, was arrested back in late May of this year. Rodriguez was driving through an alley in Schuyler, when he hit a child who was crossing the alley with their bike, says an arrest affidavit.
The arrest affidavit said the 10-year-old’s legs had appeared to have been run over, when rescue crews arrived on scene.
Rodriguez then left the scene of the accident, eventually parking the vehicle by his neighbor’s house in Schuyler. Police eventually located Rodriguez, after receiving a tip from a local citizen, and responded to his home.
Rodriguez was arrested, and he later admitted to hitting the child, says the affidavit.
Rodriguez is set to be arraigned at 1:00 p.m. in Colfax County on a felony charge for failing to stop and render aid for serious injury, and a misdemeanor charge for no operators license.
