Assault Charge For Norfolk Man After Sunday Altercation

NORFOLK – A Norfolk man was jailed after police were sent to investigate an altercation early Sunday morning at a Norfolk apartment.

Norfolk Police were called to the 900 block of Syracuse Avenue at approximately 12:11 a.m. Sunday on reports of a physical altercation between a man and woman. Upon arrival, a witness told police that a woman could be heard screaming and that she could not breathe.

Police located the woman who had visible facial injuries as well as scratches to her arms and redness on her chest area. Officers then made contact with 28-year old Lee J. Hill of Norfolk, who was determined to be intoxicated during the alleged altercation with the woman.

After interviewing Hill and additional witnesses, Hill was arrested by Norfolk Police on suspicion of third-degree assault, taken to the Norfolk City Jail and later transported to the Madison County Jail.
