NORFOLK — A barn is burned to the ground following a fire at a property west of Norfolk on Tuesday morning.
Fire personnel responded to a call of a barn fire at 5301 West Omaha Avenue around 9:30 AM. According to Norfolk Fire Chief Scott Cordes, the barn was already down when first responders arrived.
Cordes says the property owners were not home at the time of the fire and had not been in the barn since the night before. He said the barn was mostly used for storing mechanical equipment and chickens, which were all lost in the blaze.
Norfolk Fire and Rescue, Battle Creek Rural Fire and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the scene.
