Barneston Man Pleads Innocent in Sexual Assault of Minor

BEATRICE – Innocent pleas were given today by a man charged in a sexual assault case, involving a minor.

Anthony Stautner, of Barneston pleaded not guilty to a charge of 1st-degree sexual assault of a minor and two counts of 3rd degree sexual assault.  He also entered innocent pleas to charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and procuring alcohol for a minor.   The most serious charge carries a possible sentence, upon conviction, of 20-years to life in prison.

A pre-trial conference has been scheduled by Gage County District Judge Rick Schreiner, for February 7th.   Stautner’s attorney told the judge he anticipates filling several motions in the case, following review of evidence.

Stautner is suspected of meeting a 15-year-old alleged victim at a Wymore bar, buying alcohol for her and taking her to a residence on 2nd Street, in Barneston.  Sheriff’s officers alleged the youth was sexually assaulted at the residence.

Deputies and investigators from the Gage County Sheriff’s Office were assisted in the case by Emergency Room staff at Beatrice Community Hospital, by Wymore Police, by the Beatrice-Gage County Victim Advocate’s Office and by the Nebraska Child Advocacy Center.
