Battle Creek Man Dead, 3 Injured in Boating Accident Thursday

LAKE OF THE OZARKS, MO — A Battle Creek man is dead and three others are injured after a boating accident in Missouri Thursday night.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol the incident occurred at Lake of the Ozarks around 9:00 p.m. Thursday, however the call came in to the MSHP an hour later.

The Patrol says the 20-foot long fishing boat was traveling southwest in an area where the lake can be fairly narrow. It was moving at a high rate of speed and crashed into the shoreline.

According to the Patrol, 43-year old Daniel L. Walters of Battle Creek was killed in the crash. They say 48-year old Darryn Keith of Pierce was flown to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries. 51-year old Andrew Hrabanek and 51-year old Dan Young, both of Battle Creek, were hospitalized with what were called moderate injuries.

No other boats were involved.
