Beatrice Police Officer Returns From Cuba Deployment

BEATRICE –  Wednesday, the Beatrice Police Department will see the return of one its officers, following a military deployment.

Jason Sharp is finishing a one-year deployment as a security manager for the Joint Detention Group at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.   He has served there almost half of the two-and-a-half years he’s been with the Beatrice Police Department.

Sharp said he’s felt welcomed home and is ready to start his police work, again.

Sharp told the Mayor and City Council he flew a flag over his post on behalf of the city during his deployment in Cuba, during Operation Enduring Freedom.  Appearing with Beatrice Police Chief Bruce Lang last night, Sharp presented a certificate to the Beatrice Police Department.

Sharp says at some point later the local department’s supervisory staff will be honored by the Secretary of Defense and the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve organization.
