Board Of Equalization Prepares For Property Valuation Protests In Late July

WAYNE – The Wayne County Board of Commissioners regularly scheduled meeting was delayed just one day from the 4th of July celebration.

On Wednesday, in the Wayne County Courthouse meeting room, the Board of Equalization met to open the morning.

Wayne County Assessor Dawn Duffy, presented to the board her three-year assessment plan. She stated the plan didn’t change much from recent years. Her office will continue to do their follow-ups, update records and keep an eye on the legislative changes.

Duffy also told the board she had received nine property valuation protest letters as of Wednesday morning. She could see more if they were postmarked by June 30, 2017. Most of the protests deal with housing in Wayne along with an Ag property. The Protest hearings will take place during a special Board of Equalization meeting on Thursday, July 20 at 9 a.m.

Highway Superintendent, Mark Casey gave his road-bridge project updates during the Wayne County Board of Commissioners meeting. He also stated there will be a scrap tire event all day Friday and half of the day Saturday, August 11-12 held at the Wayne County Fairgrounds. Butler County Landfill will be picking up the items. Start time is schedule for 8 a.m. each day.

The next Wayne County Board of Commissioners regularly scheduled meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 18 at 9 a.m.
