NORTH BEND – A memorial event will be held to raise funds and remember three men who passed away this year.
Jesse Cady, James Albert, and Jason Daugherty all passed away due to vehicle accidents this year. To honor their memory, and help raise money for their families, the Boys of the River Memorial Benefit was put together by Shane and Kori Mock. The memorial benefit will start with registration for the Volleyball Tournament at 9 a.m. The first match will begin at 10 a.m. There will also be a Corn Hole Tournament, a Silent and Live Auction, and a Hog Roast Dinner from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. for $7 a plate. Kori Mock says they will also have live music at the event, and the lineup includes locally known bands.
“We have Blow Your Top, which is a local band. They play around Fremont, frequently,” said Mock. “And we have Welfare Lonnie & the Foodstamps playing. Then also we have The Midnight Devils are making an appearance. We’re not sure how long they’ll be able to play. They’re on the road at the end of this week. But they will be making an appearance.”
For those who are unable to attend The Boys of the River Memorial Benefit, Mock says there is still a way to donate.
“For people that can’t make it out, and would still like to donate, there is a fund set up at Platte Valley Bank in North Bend. If you want to send a donation, we would appreciate it,” said Mock. “You just put Boys of the River Memorial Benefit, and they’ll get it to where it needs to go.”
Boys of the River Memorial Benefit will take place on Saturday at McGinn’s Lake, just off of Highway 30 in North Bend.
