COLUMBUS – The local CASA branch hosted a unique event over the weekend, and raised money at the same time.
Court Appointed Special Advocates operates in the local court system with the help of area volunteers who advocate for foster children.
“The volunteering part is really special, because you get to meet the children, and you get a relationship with them. They’re excited to see you every time you visit them,” says Carrie Trofholz.
CASA Volunteer Carrie Trofholz says the group hosted a special wine and beer tasting on Friday night, at the historic downtown building, Henry on 11th.
“We are sampling several different types of wine, and several different types of Nebraska brewed beer, so it’s kind of a unique thing. We just wanted it to be fun, and raise awareness for CASA,” Trofholz.
The event was held at 6 p.m., and CASA hopes to continue holding similar events in the future.
