Christmas In The Woods Begins Saturday At Ponca State Park

PONCA – Ponca State Park’s Christmas in the Woods begins Saturday, November 25 and will run through December 16th with a variety of activities sure to get the whole family in the holiday spirit.

This Saturday begins with Rin-Tin-Tin Birdfeeders at 9:30. Participants can join the park’s naturalists in making unique birdfeeders. There is a limit of 30 people for the event, so pre-registration and payment can be made at the Resource and Education Center. The cost of the event is $2 per craft.

At 11:30, Critters Corner will teach those attending how animals stay warm during the winter and how they find food. During this event, participants can see, touch and smell live critters, furs, feathers and more.

Ponca State Park is the perfect place for a holiday selfie. From 1-2 p.m., park-goers can take nice or silly photos at the Winter Wonderland Photo Booth. Winter props and costumes will be available, and the snapshots will be sent via wetransfer.com.

At 3 p.m., practice making Santa’s treats at the Festive Cookie Decorating activity. Ponca State Park says the cookies will taste as amazing as the decorators make them look. After filling up on cookies, at 5 p.m., join the Lighted Hayrack Ride. Cap off the evening enjoying the winter landscape as the hayrack ride will go from the Resource and Education Center to the Tri-State Overlook.

All events take place at the Resource and Education Center and all events, but the Rin-Tin-Tin Birdfeeder event, are free. For more information on this and other area events, visit the Events Calendar page on waynedailynews.com.
