City Of Wayne To Hear Update From Wayne State College, Public Hearing Scheduled For Map

WAYNE – To open the New Year, Councilmembers will hold their regularly scheduled City Council meeting Tuesday evening at 5:30 p.m.

From the City Hall, Wayne State President Marysz Rames and CEO of Wayne State College Foundation Kevin Armstrong will give an update. The report will be about the Wayne State College Center for Applied Technology Building Project in which the City of Wayne approved $1 million in support of last year.

There will also be a public hearing in considering the Planning Commission’s recommendation on amending the City of Wayne’s Extraterritorial Jurisdiction Map. The group met last on December 4 as more information will be brought forward Tuesday.

A new position will be created of Street and Planning Director and the council will look to approve the job description. The role would be as an administrative supervisor and would direct report for the Public Works’ foremen. City Administrator, Wes Blecke is recommending Joel Hansen, current inspector, planner and street superintendent, for this position.

Other appointments, along with Hansen for Street and Planning Director include Betty McGuire as City Clerk and Marlen Chinn as Police Chief.

Action will be taken on a change order (final) for the “Beaumont First Addition Water & Sewer Extension” project which is a decrease of $5,596.60 and a final payment to Penro Construction, Inc. in the amount of $34,968.50.

The fourth payment will also be heard for the “4th Street Paving” project in the amount of $82,083.37 to A & R Construction.
