COLUMBUS, Neb. – A Columbus man who police say set up a meeting with an undercover officer posing as a teen girl, will be sentenced next week.
35-year-old Adam Wurdeman was convicted of attempted sexual assault by electronic device last month and faces decades in prison.
Court records say Wurdeman began Facebook messaging an undercover officer posing as a 15-year-old Columbus girl in April of 2017. Police say Wurdeman often mentioned sex, and meeting up to smoke marijuana and drink booze.
Records say he also told the undercover officer to delete messages.
Documents say eventually Wurdeman arranged a meeting near downtown Columbus in June of this year. Police say Wurdeman broke his cell phone before the officer approached him, after Wurdeman was pulled over by authorities.
Police say that Wurdeman told them he had no sexual interest in the teen girl, just friendship.
He’ll be sentenced on December 1st with the possibility of one to 50 years in prison.
