Councilmember Muir Resigning From Ward 1, Several Ordinances To Be Accepted

WAYNE – The regularly scheduled Wayne City Council meeting will take place Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

From the City Hall, one of the first items on the agenda will be taking action on accepting the resignation of Councilmember Nick Muir, Ward 1. Muir informed Mayor Chamberlain, as of June 2, 2017 he will no longer be able to represent his constituents in Ward 1. His family closed sale of their residents and will soon be moving to another part of town.

In his letter to the mayor, Muir said, “while I regret that I am no longer able to represent the residents in Ward 1, my family is still happy and proud to call Wayne America our home and are excited to welcome a new resident to Wayne. It has been a pleasure serving the residents of Ward 1 and serving with you (Mayor Chamberlain) and the other council members. I wish you (Mayor) and the other council members the very best for the future.”

Nick will distribute his written notice of vacancy during the Tuesday night meeting. Mayor Chamberlain will then have four weeks from the meeting to place the issue of filling the vacancy on the agenda for Council approval.

Action will also be taken upon for Phil Monahan being re-appointed as Fire Chief of the Wayne Volunteer Fire Department. Firefighters vote each year on a recommendation to the Mayor for an appointment of a Fire Chief.

The topic of approving an agreement with Providence Medical Center for ambulance services will also be brought up.

Councilmembers will then go through several ordinances which include third and final readings for four items. They are creating a street improvement district and sewer extension district for Wayne Crown II Project, amending Wayne Municipal Code section 78-13 (stop sign locations: West of Main Street, South of 7th Street) and amending Wayne Municipal Code section 78-212 (speed: maximum).
