BLOOMFIELD, NE — The Shannon Trail Promoters want you to two-step for tourism.
The group whose mission is to promote tourism in Cedar and Knox counties is hosting Dancing for Tourism this Saturday. The fundraiser is from 3:00-11:00 at the American Legion Pavillion in Bloomfield and is intended for all ages.
Shannon Trail Promoters President Laurie Larsen says there will be opportunities to teach children and students how to dance.
“You always see your little ones dancing to the music, so they have the rhythm,” Larsen said. “We’re going to help them bring that out and learn how to two-step and polka and do some pattern dancing.”
The fundraiser used to be an annual event, but the group hasn’t hosted it the past three years. Larsen says instead of focusing on practicing routines, they will just focus on fun.
“We’re gonna call out a dance like a triple step or a waltz and we’re going to invite all those people who want to get on the floor,” Larsen said. “We’ll have judges judging. So it’s just going to be for fun.”
There will be ten competitions throughout the event with the Outback Band performing at night.
