Former County Commissioner Albrecht Looks To Push For Legislative Seat

PENDER – Former city council member and county commissioner Joni Albrecht has thrown her hat in the ring as a candidate for the open seat in the state legislature in District 17.

“I think with my past experience down in Papillion on the Papillion City Council for eight years, and the Sarpy County Board for four. I feel I have taken a sabbatical and it’s time for me to give back.”

Albrecht moved to a farm outside of Pender five years ago, and now will look to take over for Senator Dave Bloomfield who is restricted by term limits in the state legislature.

A Republican, Albrecht holds a firm stance on multiple political issues.

“I feel very strongly about a lot of the different issues. Mostly taxes, over-regulations, quality education and affordable education. All of those things I look for not only for myself and my family, but for everyone else.”

Albrecht announced her candidacy Monday, and joins former teacher Ardel Bengston in the race for the open seat in District 17.
