Fremont Area United Way Dedicated to Promoting Early Learning

FREMONT – The Fremont Area United Way is highly invested in improving literacy in the community. The good news is, you can also help!

This is your invitation to the 7th Annual Hats Off to Literacy Luncheon on Tuesday, July 18, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fremont Golf Club (2710 North Somers). Those who attend are encouraged to wear a fun hat!

Tickets for the luncheon are $50 per person and $500 for a table of eight. To RSVP you can call Sheri at 402-721-4157, or email her at sheri@fremontunitedway.org.

The guest speaker for the event will be Author Julia Cook. A Coach purse, Kindle reader, Pampered Chef and many other items will be raffled off. Raffle tickets cost $5 each or five for $20.

According to Shawn Shanahan, CEO of Fremont Area United Way, the purpose of the Hats Off to Literacy Luncheon is to raise funds in support of the Imagination Library, which has been around for about seven years and promotes early learning and literacy work

“Imagination Library is the opportunity for all kids in our community to have a book every month, enhancing attachment, enhancing parenting time, enhancing social and emotional needs as well as the opportunity for academic success. Together in our community we are working really hard to have kids academically, socially and emotionally ready for school, to enhance school success, allowing our community to win together. United, we can change the difference,” said Shanahan.

If you cannot attend the luncheon but you still want to sponsor a child in need of reading materials, you can do so for $30 per year or $150 for five years. This allows kids to have a total of 60 books before they start kindergarten.
