FREMONT – The Fremont Cadet Squadron headquarters at the Fremont Airport has been designated as one of seven major disaster Incident Command Posts (ICP) for the Civil Air Patrol (CAP).
Fremont is now the lead ICP for any major disaster that takes place between the Canadian border to the northern Oklahoma border, and between the eastern Wyoming border to the western border of Indiana. In the case of major nation-wide disasters, such as terrorist attacks or EMP events, the Fremont ICP will run 24/7 for the duration of the disaster.
The Fremont Cadet Squadron was chosen for a number of reasons, such as the experience of the personnel in the squadron. They were also chosen for the outstanding support of the City of Fremont, and the working relationship between the local law enforcement, fire department, and CAP.
