NORFOLK, NE — It all started as a way to promote wellness and to remember Johnny Carson.
For years The-Laugh-and-A-Half-Marathon has been raising money to continue to support pediatric needs.
The funds raised from this years race helped Faith Regioal Health Service purchase a state-of-the-art incubator and additional equiptment for the pediatric unit.
Barb Peterson says they feel so fortunate and grateful for the donation from Laugh-and-A-Half.
“This equipment is extremely expensive and hard for us to get all the equipment we need for the babies in this region, I truly appreciate their efforts.”
This infant incubator with an attached battery is the first of it’s kind, and in fact, it isn’t seen in Nebraska much.
“We’ve worked with several companies to try and have this feature, we were lucky to find this one company that came up with a way to have the battery work. It’s light so the incubator is easy enough to move around. If the baby is extremely critical we can get it to the ICU quickly.”
The hospital has two incubators and Peterson says the battery pack is what makes all the difference allow the baby to be safely transported from one area to another.face
