BEATRICE – Bond has been set at $15,000 for a Gage County man facing seven driving-related allegations. James Lopez is accused of willful reckless driving, driving on a suspended license, operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, child abuse and three counts of failing to stop at stop signs.
Lopez was already facing charges in alleged connection with a burglary at a rural residence west of the Rockford Lake area, along South 51st Roads. His bond was set at $10,000 in that case.
He is scheduled to appear in Gage County Court on both cases, June 19th.
In a separate case, bond was set at $15,000 in county court Monday for Dennis Garcia, arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine. The Chief Deputy Gage County Attorney says Garcia has a pending felony case in Gage County District Court, for possession of a deadly weapon. Garcia’s hearing date on the more recent arrest is set for June 27th.
Local officers also made an arrest over the weekend in a domestic incident. Michael Hockman was arrested on suspicion of domestic assault, making a terroristic threat, false imprisonment and child abuse.
His bond was set Monday in Gage County Court, at $7,500. He was ordered to have no contact with the female victim of the incident, nor be within one block of her home. A prosecutor says Hockman is a convicted felon whose criminal history dates back to 2001, including assaults and failure to appear.
Hockman’s next hearing will be June 20th.
