Gage County Recognizes Two Decades of Service in the U.S. Army

BEATRICE – A 20-year-veteran of the U.S. Army was honored by the Gage County Board Wednesday, part of an ongoing effort to recognize the armed services contributions of area residents.

Arnold Jurgens served in the Army from April 1955, to January, 1975.  His time included serving in Vietnam.   He told county officials there were good times and bad times.

Gage County Veterans Service Officer, Phil Dittbrenner says Jurgens earned several medals for his long-time service, including the bronze star.  Jurgens and his wife Doris, were married before Arnold went into the Army.

Dittbrenner said spouses spend a lot of time sacrificing while a spouse is deployed…more than we tend to give credit, for.
