WAYNE – As the Wayne High Blue Devil football team continues their postseason run in the playoffs, fans can enjoy a soup supper event as well as taking part in a community service project Friday.
#12 Wayne High will host #4 Wahoo from Bob Cunningham Field on the campus of Wayne State College a part of the NSAA Class C1 Playoffs. While attending the game, bring food to donate to the Wayne Food Pantry so that families in the area can enjoy their Thanksgiving.
Suggested items include canned meat, soup and fruit. The drop off location will be where the soup supper tailgate will take place in the southwest end of the WSC football field. During the tailgate, come hungry and warm up with either a bowl of chili or chicken noodle soup and cinnamon rolls for a free will donation.
Food items can be brought in from 5:30 – 7 p.m. and will be donated back to the Wayne Food Pantry while the tailgate will last from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. with money raised to support the WHS football program.
Admission costs to get into the game is $7 for adults and $5 for students as this marks the final home contest of the season for Wayne High.
A win for WHS would mean a road game at either #1 Norfolk Catholic or #9 Aquinas Catholic who play in David City Friday night at 7 p.m. The other half of the bracket will feature #6 Boone Central/Newman Grove at #3 Boys Town and #7 West Point-Beemer visits #15 Pierce also at 7 p.m.
Semi-final games will take place on Friday, November 10 with the Class C1 State Championship game scheduled for Tuesday, November 21 at 10:15 a.m. from Memorial Stadium in Lincoln.
